Subject: Harry G Putnam, Trainer of Peter Manning
I truly appreciate the work done to bring out this wonderful history of the two-minute trotters. I have been seeking information about my grandfather,
...
Harry Putnam, the trainer and sulky racer who brought out Peter Manning, the great trotter and one of the six two-minute trotters written up who raced before and within 1921. This is an invaluable book for those interested in the history of harness racing.
The information about Harry Putnam is in the back of the book where I learned he had his own stable in Lake County, Illinois and was given the young colt to train. I never knew my grandfather; he died in 1930 from a kidney ailment and I was born in 1945. I have long wanted to learn more about his life and the great horse he trained, Peter Manning. The author spent time giving my grandfather credit as the initial trainer of a very great trotter.
PS. if anyone else has more information about Harry Putnam, please write me at my email address
